Dave's Bio:
Dave has been an endurance athlete since he ran Cross Country and Track at Johnston High School
in the early 80's. He began competing in triathlons in 1983, and was a
competitive age group athlete in events ranging from duathlons to 1/2
Ironman distance triathlons.
He began racing bicycles in 1985
and spent the next 23 years competing in everything from time
trial races, stage races, road races and criteriums. He also enjoys racing
mountain bikes and competes in local races as well as the Chequamegon
40, Leadville 100
and other ultra-marathon distance events. Dave and his wife, Dee, also
an endurance athlete, race a mountain bike tandem at the Chequamegon 40
and have twice competed in the Leadville 100 "Race Across The Sky" - finishing 2nd in the largest tandem field in Leadville history in 2007.
Dave and Dee began the All9Yards.com
Women's Cycling Team in early 2007 and Dave has been the teacher,
mentor and coach of this diverse group of women who compete in
everything from road races, mountain bike races, duathlons and
triathlons - or who just want to improve their cycling and have fun
doing it.
Dave continues to run and has competed in events
from the 5k to marathons, completing 6 marathons since 2002. Most recently, Dave
finished 26th overall in the 2007 Des Moines 1/2 Marathon- finishing 2nd in his age group.
Dave
and Dee have also competed in local Adventure races, and have won every
event they've entered -both as a two person team and, in 2007 Iowa
Games, as a 4 person team.
Dave has coached or mentored
athletes for years - his experience and desire to share and teach make
him a great choice for those who either wish to begin training in a
certain sport or who wish to explore the potential that they have hidden inside themselves. Dave considers it an honor to have
the opportunity to share his diverse athletic background, knowledge and
love of teaching with any athlete - and would enjoy the chance to sit
down with you to explore how he can help you on your journey to
excellence!
