Vanessa Vander Ley, L.M.T.
I come
from a large family of seven and was born and raised in Pella, Iowa. My parents
have always encouraged us to make a living with the talents God had given us.
With that being said, I was attending Trinity Christian College in Palos
Heights, Illinois when I discovered my true passion; Massage Therapy. With my
family growing, I moved closer to home and attended The Salon Professional
Academy to focus on Massage Therapy. After obtaining my Massage Therapy
License, I joined Dr. Tyler’s team at True Life Chiropractic in Waukee.
My
ultimate goal as a Massage Therapist is to improve the health and well being of
each individual. I enjoy the challenge of personalizing every massage for each
client’s needs whether it is for relaxation or rehabilitation.
I
specialize in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Massage, Prenatal
Massage, Heated Stone Massage, and Reflexology. I am certified in CPR and First
Aid, and am also a member of AMTA (American Massage Therapist Association).
When away from the office, I enjoy working on the computer, camping, taking walks, boating, golfing and being in the company of my friends and family.
Megan Fredericksen, L.M.T.
Megan is a 2001 graduate of Buena Vista University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Athletic Training. After passing the National Athletic Trainer's Association exam and becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer, Megan worked for Mary Greeley Rehab and Wellness in Ames, Iowa and provided athletic training services to local high schools.
In December of 2002, Megan and her husband moved to Hannibal, Missouri. Megan worked for Hannibal Regional Hospital in their outpatient physical therapy and sports medicine clinic. She expanded her base of knowledge by mentoring under several physical therapists and was able to personally provide the patients with the same high level of care. Besides working in the clinic, Megan also provided athletic training services to two of the local high schools and filled in at the local college. She attended a course in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina called Sportsmetrics to learn how to train female athletes to correctly run, cut and jump in a way that would strengthen crucial muscles and reflexes and protect the athlete against ACL injuries.
In December of 2006 Megan and her family returned to Iowa, at which time she returned to school for massage therapy, completing her coursework at Body Wisdom Massage School in Urbandale, which brings in the "best of the best" instructors to provide students with cutting edge techniques available to massage therapists.
I have been a health enthusiast for the last 5-10 years, but it wasn't until I met Dr. Tyler that I learned what "true" health really was. I'd been to other chiropractors when I'd had aches, pains or complaints, but never to make sure things were functioning correctly...even if I didn't have pain! Now, I understand health and wellness and the vital role chiropractic plays in that.
As an endurance athlete competing in world class races in both duathlons and triathlons, I understand perhaps more clearly than others, the importance of function. If one part isn't well-tuned, it affects the entire outcome. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to know Dr. Tyler and to work with him so closely.

Dr. Tyler has truly been a blessing in our life. Before meeting him, I made use of Chiropractic care to fix any neck pains I had. Since my encounter with Dr. Tyler, my world view has changed for the better in many areas of my life. For example, my understanding of the value of exercise, diet and health have become very important in my everyday life. Also, I no longer run to the medical doctor for antibiotics, but seek a more natural approach when my body seems to be shutting down.
The greatest impact Dr. Tyler has had on my family was with the blessing of our son Judah. Dr. Tyler simply challenged me to do my research in the following areas regarding pregnancy: natural birth, midwife vs. medical doctor, the Bradley Method, vaccines, and Chiropractic care for infants. Needless to say, research led me to a natural birth with an amazing midwife, 8 weeks of the Bradley Method birthing class and a 100% natural beautiful little boy.
It is true when Dr. Tyler says he has a heart for babies and
pregnant mothers. He adjusted
Good times with family and friends, Chiropractic care and wellness, the love for teens and the beautiful things of the Lord, are all very important things in my life, and that is the honest truth. However, my true passion is spending every possible moment with my family. We love being out doors, enjoying fellowship with people, especially the crazy teens in the youth group God has provided us. And there is nothing better than ending a long, hard working day, with a good movie snuggled up next to my husband with the baby long gone asleep in bed.
